Medicare Coverage Made Easier
Understand Your Medicare Options
Part A: Hospital Coverage
Helps cover inpatient hospital stays, skilled nursing care, hospice, and some home health services. Many people qualify for premium-free Part A based on work history.
Part B: Medical Coverage
Pays for doctor visits, outpatient care, preventive services, lab work, and certain medical equipment. Your monthly premium can vary based on income.
Part C: Medicare Advantage
Private plans that bundle Medicare benefits and may include prescription coverage plus extras like dental, vision, or hearing. Costs and provider networks vary by plan.
Part D: Drug Coverage
Helps cover prescription drugs. Each plan has its own formulary, pharmacy network, premium, and copay structure, so comparing options carefully can save money.
Medigap: Supplement Coverage
Helps pay deductibles, coinsurance, and other costs left behind by Original Medicare. In most cases, you can see any provider nationwide who accepts Medicare.
Important Medicare Enrollment Windows
Initial Enrollment Period (IEP)
This 7-month window includes the 3 months before your 65th birthday month, your birthday month, and the 3 months after. It is your first major opportunity to enroll in Parts A and B and choose additional coverage.
Annual Enrollment Period (AEP)
From October 15 through December 7 each year, you can review your current plan and make changes for the next plan year. This is a smart time to recheck doctors, prescriptions, premiums, and out-of-pocket costs.
Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment (MA OEP)
From January 1 through March 31, people already enrolled in a Medicare Advantage plan can switch to another Advantage plan or return to Original Medicare and add Part D coverage.
Special Enrollment Periods (SEPs)
Qualifying life events such as moving, losing employer coverage, or leaving a service area can open a limited-time enrollment window. The timing depends on the event, so we help confirm what applies to you.
Common Medicare Questions
Is Medicare Advantage or Medigap better for my situation?
There is no one-size-fits-all answer. Medicare Advantage can offer lower premiums and bundled extras, while Medigap often gives you broader provider access and more predictable out-of-pocket costs. The right choice depends on how you use care, which doctors you want to keep, and how you prefer to manage expenses.
Could I face a late-enrollment penalty for Part B or Part D?
Yes. If you delay enrollment without other creditable coverage, penalties can last a long time and increase your costs. Before you postpone anything, it is worth reviewing your employer or retiree coverage so you understand exactly what rules apply.
Can I keep seeing my current doctors?
Usually yes with Original Medicare plus Medigap, as long as the provider accepts Medicare. With Medicare Advantage, it is important to verify each doctor, specialist, hospital, and pharmacy against the plan network before enrolling. We can help you check that upfront.
